Silvio Proença, a devoted researcher into Brazilian music, married, 45, is on his way to São Paulo for the release of his book on folklore. He is not altogether pleased about the trip, but the publisher has demanded it. He leaves his young wife, Marina, behing in Rio. In the airport, he comes across a group of musicians and old friends, accompanied by Marialva, a beautiful woman, the niece of one of the musicians.

The flyinght is delayed by a storm, so Proença and the musicians start up a "jam session", duly enlivened by a good deal of beer. Swept along by general euphoria, Proença misses his flight and cannot quite seem to find his way home! The party continues in Marialva´s apartment and "our hero" finds himself totally taken over by the music and the charms of the dark-skinned hostess. Next day, he wakes up to discover that he is lying naked in an unmade bed after a night of ardent passion.

He stalks around the apartment, trying to piece together what has happened. He ends up at the front door, opens it, sees a delivery of bread and ventures out.

A gust of wind slams the door shut, leaving Proença stranded outside in a building he does not even remember and, what is worse, completely naked.

He rings the doorbell repeatedly, but Marialva appears to be deaf. In panic, he runs along the corridor to the elevator and, from the elevator, he rushes out into the streets. He is alone and naked and pursued on all sides by hordes of people with closes on! His adventures are both hilarious and fraught. In desesperation, he tries to find his way back to his cozy and apparently far-off home.

The news of a naked man assaulting people travels like wild fire. Reporters and TV crews pour out into the streets to interview those that have seen him. By this time, the "naked man" has been seen throughout the city. Some say he is a terrorist, armed with a granade. Others say he is a sex maniac.

The police are called into action. Meanwhile, Proença huddles in a sewer, exhausted and starving, cornered like some wild animal. He waits until nightfall to try and break through the dragnet, put an end to his nightmare and simply get home.

...not so far away and not so cozy as he imagined....
